Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
PSYO 2090 (Developmental Psychology) examines the changes that occur in humans from conception through adolescence, including biological, social, cognitive, and linguistic aspects of development.
The Part-Time Academic will be responsible for teaching PSYO 2090, Developmental Psychology, in the Fall 2025 semester (September-December, 2024). The class will be offered in-person on Dalhousie's Studley campus; applicants must therefore be able to teach in-person in Halifax, NS, for the duration of the semester. The anticipated enrollment is 149 students, and the course comes with 50 hours of CUPE Marker support.
Responsibilities of the successful applicant will include: Developing 12 weeks of content, including lectures, readings, exams, and other assessments.
Presenting in-person content twice weekly at the time set on the current class schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:05-5:25pm.
Grading assessments and providing timely feedback to students.
Offering approximately 2 hours per week for student consultation, and responding to student emails in a timely manner.
Maintaining a record of all student grades (including grades for each assessment component) in Brightspace, and ensuring timely submission of final letter grades to the registrar's office.
This position reports to the Chair of the Department.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Applicants must have a graduate degree in Psychology or a related discipline, demonstrated teaching effectiveness, and research or teaching experience related to developmental psychology. Previous experience with Dalhousie's learning management system, Brightspace, is considered an asset.
