Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
This Part-Time Academic will be responsible to
direct the Popular Music Ensemble
from
September 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026 (Fall & Winter Terms)
. Rehearsals are held weekly, resulting in one main concert in the Winter term and two noon-hour performances (one per term).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: organization of the participants; scheduling, planning and preparation of rehearsals and concerts; overseeing the distribution of scores, implementing the ensemble's Method of Assessment. The director must coordinate with the Associate Director of Productions, Voice Area, and the productions administrator regarding the selection of concert repertoire within the context of developing the School's multi-year plan, including regarding commissions of new works and organization of special collaborative endeavours. This is an hourly-paid position reporting to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
BMus or equivalent; experience and training in vocal ensemble coaching; specialization in popular music's ensembles (jazz, pop, R&B, etc.); understanding of vocal pedagogy and vocal health principles, effective organizational and communication skills.
