Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
NURS4352.03 - Exploring Concepts in Oncology (Fall 2025)
This 3-credit elective introduces the student to concepts of oncology nursing including cancer biology/pathophysiology, pain and symptom management, bio-psychosocial-ethical issues, treatment modalities, psychosocial distress and decision-making across the cancer continuum. The implications of cancer care at the individual, community, organization/system to the global level are explored. Students learn the principles, standards and competencies underpinning quality of life cancer care.
FORMAT:

• Online delivery asynchronously, equivalent to 3 h/week for 7 weeks

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Development of teaching and learning activities related to course-specific topics that align with current trends in healthcare practices
• Review and revise all course materials and assessments to align with current educational pedagogies that include universal design of learning and active learning strategies.
• Introduce current and relevant trends in oncology health care practices.
• Hold weekly virtual office hours and follow up with students as necessary
• Liaise with the Associate Directors, Undergraduate Studies Academic and Student Affairs for initial instruction, orientation and as needed.
• Delivery, assessment, evaluation, and co-ordination of the course using the Brightspace Learning Management System
• Participation in semester meetings and course discussions within the program
• Develop and administer course evaluations, incl. assessments and exams
• Submission of grades

Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Candidates must hold a graduate nursing degree (PhD preferred), or related field, plus have relevant teaching experience and clinical expertise in the area of oncology.
Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement
