With a diverse community the department offersa wide-range of graduate courses and programs relating to academic scholarship and professional practice.Your opportunity:Reporting to the Manager, Academic Programs, this position will be responsible for providing vision, co-developing, coordinating, leading, and supporting partnerships with schools and community-partners to support practicum and experiential learning opportunities for students in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, OISE, while working with program directors and coordinators in CTL. This role also informs program leadership, including LLE practicum placements, MT practicum placements, course experiential learning across the department, and general leadership in CTL.This opportunity will include working with CTL program leaders to develop and support all CTL community and school/board partnerships as related to CTL programs (C&P, LLE and MT), as well as working to support all stakeholders within those partnerships, including students, instructors, and community partners.Additionally, the position is responsible for supervising an employee and will be required to travel to schools and partnership sites.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing plans that support the development of experiential learning and practicum opportunities for students
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Analyzing potential experiential learning and practicum opportunities to determine suitability with student academic learning objectives
  • Assessing student experiential learning and practicum needs
  • Advising and coaching students on the selection of appropriate experiential learning and practicum opportunities
  • Overseeing a system that selects and matches students to a placement and responding to complaints about student placement performance issues
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
  • Directing the activities of a single ongoing staff-appointed employee
Essential Qualifications:
  • Master\'s degree in education or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of demonstrated leadership experience in the field of education, in particular with facilitating the development, implementation, and evaluation of education-related programs.
  • Demonstrated experience working in K-12 (or equivalent) education, preferably experience in Ontario school boards and working in a University setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership in equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice work.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating student placements and overseeing a system that selects and matches students.
  • Proven track-record of developing innovative approaches to problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated evidence of negotiating complex situations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining relationships with community networks and partnerships.
  • Experience with negotiation and conflict resolution to resolve practicum or student-related issues.
  • Expertise and knowledge in relevant law, regulations and policies.
  • Knowledge of operations of school boards in the GTA and teacher federations; knowledge of Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) requirements for accreditation and the Standards of Practice and Ethical Standards is required.
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), Quercus, or related software.
  • Outstanding communication skills, e.g., writing, listening, facilitating challenging conversations.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with students, faculty, administrators, and external contacts.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to balance competing priorities and work under pressure to specific deadlines.
  • Excellent attention-to-detail and accuracy required.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and coordination skills under high stress situations is required.
  • Strong analytical skills, planning skills and problem-solving skills are required and essential to succeed in this position.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to diversity issues.
