About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and patient-centered
Registered Dental Hygienist
to serve as our
New Patient Coordinator
. This is a hybrid clinical-assessment and concierge-style role responsible for delivering a comprehensive, elevated intake experience for every new patient entering our practice.
The ideal candidate is clinically strong, detail-oriented, confident in communication, and able to seamlessly guide patients from the first appointment through diagnosis, risk assessment, and treatment planning in collaboration with the dentist.
This role is perfect for an RDH who excels in comprehensive assessments, thrives in a structured yet modern environment, and values patient education and prevention at the forefront of care. One who perhaps no longer wishes to scale in a traditional sense but still use their credentials and knowledge to comprehensively treatment plan and collect records.
Key Responsibilities: Comprehensive New Patient Assessment
Perform full new-patient intake, including reviewing medical history, dental history, and risk-factor identification. Records that are completed digitally by the patient in advance.
Capture all required diagnostic records:
Intraoral and extraoral photographs
Radiographs (bitewing, PA, pano as directed)
Periodontal charting and full hygiene assessment
Hard tissue charting with the dentist.
Occlusal evaluation, airway screening, and TMJ assessment when indicated
Conduct extraoral and intraoral examinations, identifying clinical findings and pathology for team to review.
Complete caries, periodontal, restorative, and overall risk assessments using established evidence-based frameworks.
Intraoral 3D scan with iTero
Perform comprehensive oral hygiene instruction using optragate, disclosing agent and photography.
Biofilm and disclosing agent removal with Airflow air polishing.
Treatment Planning & Case Presentation
Collaborate with the dentist to develop preventive, periodontal, and restorative treatment plans to be carried out by team members.
Help facilitate case presentation by organizing diagnostic records, highlighting key findings, and ensuring documentation is clear.
Educate patients on findings, risk, disease processes, and recommended next steps.
Support transitions into hygiene therapy, consultations, and restorative care pathways.
Review the iTero oral health suite findings
Conduct the above mentioned when needed for comphensive evaluations of existing patients when appropriate or recommended.
Patient Experience & Coordination
Serve as the primary clinical point of contact during the new-patient process.
Ensure patients feel welcomed, informed, and supported throughout their visit.
Clearly communicate treatment recommendations, next steps, and follow-up appointments.
Liaise with admin and clinical teams to ensure seamless handoffs and exceptional continuity of care.
Follow up with patients about their experience and care.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely chart notes according to regulatory standards.
Ensure all diagnostic records meet quality and documentation criteria.
Follow infection prevention and control protocols in alignment with CDHO, OSHA and clinical guidelines.
Qualifications
Registered Dental Hygienist in good standing with the CDHO
7+ years of clinical experience preferred
Strong proficiency with radiographs, photography, periodontal assessment, and charting.
Clear understanding of risk-based dentistry and evidence-informed hygiene practices.
Exceptional verbal communication and patient-education skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with both clinical and administrative teams.
Experience with digital workflows, charting software, and diagnostic technology.
