Are you passionate about nurturing young children in a warm, imaginative setting? We're seeking an Early Childhood Assistant to support both our Nursery School and Parent & Child programs.

In the Nursery School, you'll work alongside experienced teachers to help create a caring environment where children explore through play, song, movement, and artistic activities. In our Parent & Child class, you'll assist in welcoming families, supporting gentle routines, and helping with seasonal crafts, snack preparation, and outdoor play.

WESE Early Childhood Education Assistant

Organization:



Waldorf Education Society of Edmonton (WESE)

(Current role is on Mondays and Tuesdays, but additional training and work may become available within the school)

The WESE Early Childhood Programs are located within the WISE Charter School.

Qualifications:



A strong desire to support the educational, emotional, physical, and social needs of young children. Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with confidence. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; approachable and collaborative. Conflict resolution skills, adaptability, and resilience. Willingness to work within a community-based environment. Minimum Level 1 Certification in Early Childhood Education (as required for licensing). Educational Assistant certificate, equivalent training and Waldorf experience or willingness to learn more about Waldorf Education is an asset. ( Additional work may become available in other early childhood programs, or various grade levels within the school if you are interested in applying for further work or subbing opportunities) Current Standard First Aid + CPR C. Current Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities:



Support the lead teacher in class and lesson preparation and delivery. Provide supervision and care for children, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment. Develop an understanding of Waldorf education and child development from a Waldorf perspective. Assist in preparing for parent evenings, school events, and festivals. Support outings and class trips that enhance the curriculum. Provide outdoor supervision and on-call support as needed. Attend full faculty meetings (monthly) and division meetings (as invited). Participate in professional development days and key school events, including:
August PD orientation, May Edmonton Gateways Conference, Designated PD days.

Relationship with WESE:



Participate in visioning and planning for the development of WESE programs, including attending three WESE/WISE Charter School (WISE CS) meetings (Aug/Jan/Jun). Contribute to operational improvements and community-building efforts. Follow guidelines outlined in the WESE Employee Handbook and Codes of Conduct.
