Catholic Social Services in Lloydminster, is currently recruiting for a part time (20 hours per week) Cultural Connector to join our Supportive Family Living Program (SFLP) team.
About the Supportive Family Living Program:
SFLP provides supportive transitional housing for families who have children in care or who are at risk of coming into care of the Ministry, and provides supportive housing, and 24/7 on site programming supports. Families will gain family reunification and gain help in securing independent housing upon completion of the program. Families will have increased awareness to community programming and supports to have continued success. Through distinction based multi-cultural programming, families will have developed an understanding of their unique cultures, traditions, values and history. Families will be empowered to participate in case planning and share in decision making impacting their daily lives, children and youth will be active in school and in their community. Families will have increased knowledge of the impacts of trauma, addiction and violence and are able to apply harm reduction strategies and recognize the need for preventative interventions.
Job Summary:
The Cultural Connector will focus on working within the team to identify and/or provide for the cultural needs of Indigenous children/youth in care and families being served by SFLP through individual service planning. Primary responsibilities include cultural mentoring to staff working directly with Indigenous persons who may be attending cultural events, ceremonies, ministry meetings, etc. The Cultural Connector will support clients to explore cultural identity and then support them to access resources that will further enrich that identity. The Cultural Connector will coordinate and develop a resource bank of both internal and external resources. Hours of work may include days, evening and weekend work when needed.
