RAPS is Seeking a community access support worker to assist two individuals with Autism (E11)
Location Sherwood Park
Days/Hours: Tuesdays and Thursday 5pm-9/9:30pm & Sundays 11:30am-5/8ish pm flexible with end times and earlier end in winter months.
: Duties include but are not limited to: supporting a Mother with adult twins on outings, encouraging clients to participate in activities (Special Olympics, swimming, community activities and fun road trips and events), recognizing sensory dysregulation and/or triggers that may result in overstimulation, hand washing reminders, assisting with expressing communication using assistive technology (1 son uses - Touch Chat AAC - will train and/or will explore other related applications on iPhone ), experience with visual schedules and/or related technology also an asset, general supervision, companionship, work on social skills with community members and friendship.
Qualifications:The successful candidate must have an updated criminal record check containing the Vulnerable sector check portion,
driver's licence/vehicle for client transport required.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (or similar behaviour training program) is preferred and first aid/CPR.
Must have the ability to proactively manage anxiety, OCD ( looking to create flexibility with strategies), and periods of mild dysregulation, in a calm and patient manner.
Ideal candidate will be caring, engaging, proactive and fun! Preference given to those that have previous experience with Autism or related special needs.
Must be willing to participate in community activities and help create a happy and fun environment.
The Mother needs a second qualified staff willing to have fun with us as her son's have gotten older they often will want to go to different places during the same outing.*
Rate of Pay: $20-$30/ hour- based on qualifications and experience
