Job Title Part Time Building Operator
Summary The Building Operator performs a wide variety of maintenance, repair, minor alterations and service functions,
operates and maintains designated buildings and related equipment, handles major emergencies and maximizes
predictive and preventative maintenance activities. The position will be assigned to the Peel Memorial Health
Centre, as a member of Honeywell\xe2\x80\x99s FM Services team.
WORK SCHEDULE: The Casual Operator must be available on call or as needed with some prescheduled shifts
to cover vacation, sick days, etc.
Morning shift: 6:00AM to 4:30PM
Afternoon shift: 12:30PM to 11:00PM
Physical demands:
Exposure to elements - majority of work indoors; some exposure to outdoor environment
Lifting requirements - maximum 50 lbs.
Repetitive physical effort - majority of work is non-repetitive
Elevated working conditions - use of ladder; scissor lift (training required), etc.
Confined space may be applicable (training required)
Stand and walk throughout the shift;
Bending forward, side to side, crouching and lunging dynamically;
Core Responsibilities:**
Responsible for maintenance and operations at a designated facility including the dispatch of work
requests to subcontractors.
Respond to all calls as directed by the Help Desk and/or Client.
Verify equipment status through daily logging of operational values.
Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance routines on mechanical, electrical, plumbing and
other building systems.
Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on the security system.
Edit set points and schedule operation of systems through a BMS.
Maintain aesthetics of the facility in the common areas and restock assets as needed.
Utilize a mobile device to obtain and manage work requests generated by a Computerized
Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Create reports utilizing Word and Excel and distribute in accordance with Client policies and
procedures.
Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and climb roof ship ladders.
Operator must work in a safety manner, follow all safety policies set out by the company (ex: lockout/tag-out, hot work, confined space, etc.) and Client.
Maintains a positive attitude when providing services and fosters sustained customer relationship
growth.
Assists the Account Director and Client by completing time sensitive tasks as required.
Qualifications:
BES I & II Certification is required
BC Trade Qualification (mechanical, electrical, millwright, plumbing, carpentry, etc.)
3+ years\xe2\x80\x99 work experience as a Building Operator or Stationary Engineer
Work experience in a health care facility is preferred.
Ability to obtain/maintain CPIC clearance and immunization in accordance with Client requirements
and the Public Health Act.
Skills & Knowledge
Current knowledge of best practices of professional preventative and predictive maintenance
practices, methods and equipment.
Experience and familiarity with Provincial Safety statutes and basic applicable building codes,
regulations.
Comfortable with the use of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Building
Management System (BMS) and Microsoft Office 2013 applications.
Strong organizational and planning skills with prioritizing and multi-tasking abilities to meet time
sensitive deadlines.
Strong attention to detail.
Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Flexibility to work outside of core hours when business needs dictate.
