Applications are invited for Parks Workers for Temporary Full-time and Casual assignments in the Parks Operations Division of the Engineering, Parks and Environment Department. Assignments start between March to May 2023 and end between September to October 2023; subject to operational requirements the assignments may be extended.

Parks Workers perform a variety of manual duties in the maintenance of floral and tree areas, turf and sports fields, playgrounds and related park areas. One of the assignments is very specific to parks construction projects and the successful candidate will have semi-skilled abilities to work on playground equipment, benches, bleachers, wired and wooden fences and other related work as required.

RATE OF PAY: $30.25 per hour (2021 C.U.P.E. rate)

HOURS OF WORK: Temporary Full- Time hours are 40 hours per week.
Casual hours are up to 40 hours per week
(Primarily Monday to Friday, but some weekend shifts may be required)

Temporary Full-Time employees are paid 6% of their regular earnings in lieu of paid vacation and become eligible for benefits after 6 months of continuous employment. Casual employees are paid 12.5% of their regular earnings in lieu of all benefits.

The successful candidates will have Grade 12 plus experience in general construction and maintenance of parks and landscape work and the stamina and coordination to perform manual work outdoors in all weather conditions. A valid Class 5 B.C. Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License is required.
