Job Summary

Enforce the Traffic By-law, Fire Route By-Law and Accessible Parking By-Law to maintain safe and secure roadways and properties throughout the City of Mississauga.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to public complaints, monitor councillor priority areas, complaints from Peel Regional Police and outside agencies, along with patrols of city streets.
  • Perform a safety and damage circle check on any vehicles which are to be seized, fill out the appropriate forms and clear the vehicle through Peel Regional Police to ensure the vehicle is not stolen.
  • Supervise City's towing contractors to ensure they have required equipment response time and proper handling of vehicle being seized.
  • Input all enforcement activities into parking enforcement computer program.
  • Attend court if there is a dispute with the issuance of a ticket to present the evidence gathered at the scene of the infraction.
  • Enforce the Traffic By-law, Fire Route By-Law and Accessible Parking By-Law to maintain safe and secure roadways and properties throughout the City of Mississauga.
  • Provide ad hoc assistance on projects/initiatives within the unit/team.
  • Input all enforcement activities into parking enforcement computer program.
  • Oversee external contractors: tow truck operators while in the process of seizing a vehicle at the direction of the parking enforcement officer.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Graduate of a community college law enforcement/by-law enforcement program.
  • Law and Security or Police Foundations Diploma.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Microsoft Office programs and appropriate City software.
  • Foot patrol and vehicle patrol.
  • Visual checking for permits, license plates and pay and display receipts.
  • Primarily outside in public with weather conditions.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 64,463.00 - $ 85,952.00
Hours of Work: 35
