Under the supervision of the District Park District Manager (PDM), and as part of the District Management team, the incumbent is responsible for assigned activities that relate to planning, managing and delivering park operations, maintenance/construction projects within the Birds Hill Park District. The District is made up the Birds Hill Provincial Park, River Road Provincial Park and other small Provincial Parks offering campgrounds, waysides, beaches, day/group use areas, trails, winter and summer recreational activities and natural and cultural resources.

Conditions of Employment:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba class 5 drivers licence.
Must be physically able to perform the duties assigned to the position such as standing, bending and lifting periodically
Must be willing and able to travel with occassional overnight stays
Qualifications:
Essential
Degree or diploma in Resource Management, Environmental Sciences/Studies, Municipal Management, Public Service Administration, Recreational Administration or a related field, with experience in a multi-disciplined park or public work environment. An equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training may also be considered
Experience working with municipal type infrastructure such as water/waste water systems, roads, public use facilities and/or construction trades
Experience supervising staff
Strong interpersonal skills for developing and maintaining positive working relationships with the public and staff
Strong verbal communication skills
Strong written communication skills
Ability to analyze, solve problems and make decisions
Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to plan and prioritize complex and changing workloads to meet strict deadlines
Ability to work independently and effectively under minimal supervision
Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) or similar computer applications
Desired
Experience with Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations
Experience managing budgets and tracking expenditures
Duties:
The incumbent will ensure programs are cost effective, delivered within the preapproved parameters, address public health and environmental requirements and meet all regulatory requirements and that professional, business-like quality customer service is provided to the Department's clients. The incumbent is also responsible to ensure that effective dialogue is maintained with all local stakeholder groups including cottage associations, commercial operators, partners and special recreational/interest groups. In the absence of the Park District Manager, the incumbent will perform the role of the Park District Manager.
