Your Opportunity:The Alberta Children\'s Hospital is a warm & vibrant workplace with team members, youth, families, staff & physicians partnering together to provide service to the children and families in inpatient units & ambulatory clinics. Reporting to the manager of the Ambulatory Complex Care Service at the ACH, the Family Resource Specialist - Complex Care is primarily responsible for providing community resource navigation and supports to families caring for children with very complex, chronic, and social needs. This role collaborates closely with the Care Coordinators on the Complex Care Team and is an integral member of the development and sustainability of this new program at ACH. The Family Resource Specialist - Complex Care will work directly with families who are accessing the Complex Care Program at ACH; this includes facilitating connections to community services and programs, supporting completion of FSCD applications, identifying options for respite, and supporting applications for housing, financial aid, transportation supports, community resources, etc. for the patient and family. Extensive knowledge of social and community support programs focused on children with complex healthcare need is essential. Knowledge of federal (including those serving Indigenous persons and mental health supports) provincial, regional and local resources is critical to this role.Description:As a Parent Service Advisor, you will provide customized support to families who are accessing service from AHS sites. You will receive referrals, facilitate access or application for supports, and provide direct support to families who contact the site asking for assistance. As a Parent Service Advisor, you will provide orientation for families and provide materials and information, responding to their pre- and post-admission inquires. You are an effective liaison between families and staff and an advocate for families, encouraging and empowering them to ask questions of their health care teams and service providers, thereby reinforcing the importance of the families\' role on the health care team. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Completion of post-secondary degree or diploma. Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of post-secondary degree in social work, public health or other relevant health care related field. Minimum 2 years\' experience offering resource supports and referrals to community programs and services. Minimum 2 years\' experience working in pediatrics. Extensive knowledge of social and community support programs focused on children with medical complexities. Knowledge of federal, provincial, regional and local resources and financial support programs for low-income families. Competent in conducting a financial assessment using strength-based approach. Efficiency working in an electronic health record system; Connect Care. Experience with Indigenous family supports and programs (e.g., Jordan\'s Principle, NIHB). Strong understanding of the principles of Patient & Family Centred Care and demonstrated ability to practice these principles to improve patient and family experience. Excellent current knowledge of community supports and services in Alberta and Calgary for low-income families and those related to child health needs and to tax or other child/family benefits. Strong computer skills and be capable of working within an electronic health record and show competency with other systems.
