Job Overview




Reporting to the General Counsel, as the

Paralegal

you are primarily responsible for providing support to the Law Department and Qualico Builders for residential lot/home conveyancing, mortgage registrations and payouts, and other related administrative responsibilities.


Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Administering, overseeing and managing lot and home conveyancing files for Qualico builders, including review, preparation or assistance with offers, mortgages, discharges, searches, deposits, condition dates, closing documents, payments etc. Liaising with Qualico builders and internal contacts, as well as external law firms, banks, builders, and other parties to effectuate amendments of conveyancing matters such as closing date extensions, condition waivers, contract amendments, adjustments, and payouts. Assisting in land / lot acquisitions of Qualico builders. Managing Teranet/Land Titles account for all builders, including tracking and payment of invoices, and coordinating on matters with Teranet/Land Titles personnel. Tracking and interacting with multiple banks for mortgage registrations and discharges and preparing necessary reporting. Managing and authorizing invoices, and requesting cheques, coordinating with the accounting department, and providing documentation/reconciliation as required. Preparing and distributing correspondence, reports, spreadsheets and other related documentation respecting lot / home conveyancing. Administering sales related items and creation of memos for registration of builders in data management sources (Lotworks) as required. Promoting a collaborative work environment and providing support to other corporate and commercial projects of the Law Department as required.

Essential Requirements:



Degree or Diploma in Legal Assistant, Administrative Services, or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant and/or Paralegal Satisfactory verification of criminal record check. Proficient using office equipment, Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Preferred Requirements



Proficiency in iManage and Lotworks would be considered an asset. Experience working in a legal department to support the new home sales industry would be considered an asset.

Work Conditions




You primarily work in an office setting during regular business hours. Overtime may occasionally be required.
