Why Join Us?

Ackard has been a trusted name in Edmonton for over 40 years, known for quality craftsmanship and homes that truly stand out. We're a close-knit team that takes pride in our work, supports each other, and genuinely enjoys what we do. Every project is a chance to be creative, solve problems, and see the real impact of your skills. Our culture is built on honesty, integrity, respect, passion, and continuous growth--values we live every day, not just post on a wall. If you're looking for a place where you can do great work, feel at home, and have some fun along the way, Ackard is the place to be.

What You'll Do

As a Paint Sprayer & Facility Assistant, you'll play a vital role in our cabinet shop and broader operations. In the shop, you'll ensure cabinetry is finished to a flawless standard while keeping tools and equipment in top shape. Beyond the spray booth, you'll provide hands-on support across our shop, yard, and office -- keeping things safe, organized, and running smoothly. This is a diverse role for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship but also enjoys rolling up their sleeves to help wherever needed.

Paint Spraying & Prepping

Prepare, sand, and finish cabinetry pieces to achieve flawless, professional-quality surfaces. Spray finishes (paint, lacquer, clear coat, stain) with consistent, professional technique. Maintain and meticulously clean spray equipment and finishing tools daily -- fully disassemble, flush, inspect, and reassemble guns, tips, hoses, and lines. Inspect finished pieces for blemishes, dust, runs, or other defects; correct issues through targeted sanding and touch-ups. Assist cabinet makers with assembly, touch-ups, and shop throughput as required. Keep the spray booth, prep area, and shop immaculately clean and organized; manage finishing supplies and disposables. Follow shop safety procedures, PPE requirements (respirators, hearing protection), and maintain equipment logs.

Facility Assistance

Use the forklift to unload, receive, and stock incoming wood and cabinet materials. Ensure shipments are put away correctly and inventory is organized in both the main and south shops. Perform general labour and maintenance tasks around the shop, yard, and office. Handle seasonal upkeep such as lawn care, snow removal, sanding, and installation of holiday decor (e.g., Christmas lights). Assist with set-up and tear-down for staff meetings and company events. Provide support with light IT-related moves and setups as directed. Maintain outdoor areas, including weeding and upkeep of flower beds. Assist with vehicle-related needs, including transporting company trucks to and from service providers (e.g., dealerships, mechanics, etc.) Perform other related tasks as reasonably requested by owners and management.

What You Bring

Valid forklift certification is required. Valid driver's license, transportation and clean driving record are required. Proven finishing/spray experience in cabinetry, millwork, or high-end furniture (2+ years preferred). Strong sanding and surface-prep skills -- you notice the little things and correct them. Demonstrated knowledge of spray guns, nozzles, pressure settings, and finishing products. A methodical, practically obsessive approach to cleaning and equipment maintenance. Comfortable using hand and power tools; able to assist on general shop tasks. Strong work ethic and ability to perform physical labour in various weather conditions. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. CSTS & WHMIS are an asset. Flexible and adaptable to a wide range of tasks. Able to lift up to ~50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a production shop environment. Team-oriented and takes pride in workmanship.

Working Conditions

This role involves both indoor and outdoor work in a shop, yard, and office setting. Frequent exposure to paint fumes, dust, and noise in the cabinet shop; respirators, hearing protection, and other PPE are required and provided. Physical labour is a regular part of the job, including lifting up to ~50 lbs, standing for extended periods, bending, and moving materials. Outdoor duties may involve working in varied weather conditions (heat, cold, snow, rain). Seasonal responsibilities include snow removal, lawn care, sanding, and occasional installation of outdoor decor. Work schedule is primarily Monday to Friday, with some flexibility required for company events or seasonal needs. Forklift operation, equipment cleaning, and vehicle transport will be routine parts of the role.
