Job Summary

We are seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help lead our busy retail paint store. The ideal candidate will oversee daily operations, manage staff, and ensure excellent customer service. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of retail management and inventory control. The Store Assistant Manager will be responsible for maintaining store standards, and fostering a positive shopping environment for customers and employees alike.

Duties

Lead and supervise store staff, including evaluating performance to ensure high levels of employee engagement and productivity. Manage daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and POS transactions. Oversee inventory management, including stock ordering, merchandising, stocking shelves, and inventory control to optimize product availability. Interact with customers to help assist with appropriate product selection to complete their painting projects. Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints with professionalism to maintain excellent customer service standards. Execute marketing campaigns to promote store offerings and increase foot traffic. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and store procedures. Utilize organizational skills to manage shift schedules.

Requirements

Proven management experience in retail sales or store management roles; supervisory experience is essential. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and foster a collaborative environment. Excellent communication skills. Proficiency in POS systems, retail math, pricing strategies, merchandising techniques, and inventory management software. Familiarity with retail sales techniques such as upselling and cross-selling to maximize revenue opportunities. Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Previous assistant manager or managerial experience in a grocery store or hardware/paint/decorating retail environment is preferred. Will train to suit.
