Remote, Canada - Afternoon/Evenings (Eastern time zone)

The Opportunity:



Postmedia Editorial Services is looking for a versatile paginator with the skills to produce daily newspaper pages that grab attention and engage readers. Working as a part of a team including paginators, designers and copy editors, the candidate will follow slotting instructions to build pages using Adobe InDesign, balancing speed in a high-volume production environment with the need for precision and quality. The primary focus of this role is producing pages for the chain's metro broadsheet markets, as well as shared pages used by other papers across the chain.



Duties:



Lay out and design a high volume of newspaper pages, including fronts and feature pages, for daily newspapers. Work as part of a tight-knit team in a high-pressure environment to achieve excellence in newspaper design. Responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality control.

Skills and Qualifications:



Superb layout and design abilities; strong typography skills. Strong organizational skills with good attention to detail. Exceptional ability to spot errors in layout style and troubleshoot technical issues with page setups. Well organized, with excellent communication skills and an ability to work under strict deadlines. Ability to prioritize workflow tasks based on an overarching deadline structure, independent of direct instruction. Proficiency with Adobe InDesign; Experience with the Saxo/Naviga CMS is an asset. Efficient and calm under pressure; The successful applicant is expected to balance accuracy and speed and be fully accountable for work. Experience in a fast-paced daily newsroom or central production environment.

Postmedia Editorial Services operates seven days per week, and applicants must be prepared to work evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
