Reporting to the Director, Flight Operations, the P4 Captain / EFB Administrator is responsible for the operation and safety of the aircraft and the safety of all persons on board during flight time. The role will act as Pilot in Command and will have final authority for the disposition of the aircraft during the time in which they are in command. The P4 (PC12) Captain / EFB Administrator will ensure that adequate security procedures and measures are in place to protect the entire EFB system at both the software and hardware levels. These procedures and measures shall ensure that prior to each flight the EFB operational software works as specified and the EFB operational data is complete and accurate. Additionally, the role will ensure EFB security threats from unauthorized sources are identified and assessed, and that effective EFB security protection strategies are implemented to protect the aircraft from all adverse impacts on safety, functionality, and continued airworthiness. Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the compliance of all programs installed on the EFB\xe2\x80\x99s
  • Conduct audits and ensure that company EFB procedures are complied with by all personnel
  • Keep knowledge of security and EFB\xe2\x80\x99s systems up to date and notify crew accordingly for operating system updates
  • Assure current versions of any company application and data packages are installed on the EFB\xe2\x80\x99s
  • Ensure adequate security procedures and measures are in place to protect the EFB system at both the software and hardware levels
  • Manage the EFB SOP manual
  • Inspect and audit flight crew or user assigned EFB\xe2\x80\x99s periodically to assure compliance with SOPs
  • Maintain EFB compliance to AC 700-020 and our PORD Special Authorization.
  • Carry out line flying as with Pilot in Command or Second in Command as appropriate
  • Ensure the safety and security of the aircraft from the moment the aircraft has started its engine for the purpose of taking-off until it finally comes to rest at the end of the flight and the engine used as primary propulsion units are shut down
  • Ensure that the flight will not continue beyond the nearest suitable aerodrome when a flight crew member\xe2\x80\x99s capacity to perform functions is significantly reduced by impairment of faculties from causes such as fatigue, sickness, or lack of oxygen
  • Ensure that the aircraft is operated within its limitations and all operational procedures and checklists are complied with in accordance with the Flight Operations Manual, the Aircraft Flight Manual and applicable regulations.
  • Ensuring that the following are conducted without infringing on operating minima:
    • planned route
    • the aerodromes it is planned to use for destination, alternate or emergency purposes
    • applicable NOTAMS
    • the reported and forecast winds for the route
    • the reported and forecast meteorological conditions for the routes, destination and alternate aerodromes
    • the navigation and radio aids to be used.
  • Ensure alternative flight plans are followed in the event of the original flight plan becoming impracticable due to unforeseen circumstances
  • Decide whether or not to accept an aircraft with unserviceability\xe2\x80\x99s allowed by the CDL and MEL if applicable
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure that the aircraft, and any required equipment is serviceable and that relevant emergency equipment is serviceable and ready for use
  • Ensure that fuel, oil and oxygen requirements are met and, ensuring that aircraft refueling is supervised
  • Confirm that the aircraft\xe2\x80\x99s performance will enable it to safely complete the proposed flight
  • Ensure that all baggage and freight has been accounted for and is properly stowed and secured in the appropriate location on the aircraft.
  • Ensure that the crew positions are occupied by qualified crew members in accordance with the instructions set out in the Aircraft Flight Manual and this Flight Operations Manual
  • Ensure that all passengers are briefed on the location of emergency exits and the location and use of relevant safety and emergency equipment
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure that whenever the aircraft is taxiing, taking off or landing, or whenever they consider it advisable (e.g. in turbulent conditions), all passengers and crew are properly secured in their seats, and all cabin baggage is in the approved stowage area
  • Ensure that the documents and manuals required are carried and will remain valid throughout the flight or series of flights and be produced, when requested, to a person authorized by the Authority.
  • Ensure that all mandatory pre-flight inspections have been carried out.
  • Ensure that a continuous listening watch is maintained on the appropriate radio communication frequencies at all times whenever the flight crew is manning the aircraft for the purpose of commencing and/or conducting a flight and when taxiing
  • Ensure that abnormal or emergency situations and system malfunctions are not simulated for any purpose during passenger flights
  • Complete the Journey Log after each flight and carry out any post flight duties such as required reports, all associated company, governmental regulatory documents and that the flight plan has been closed
  • Maintain a high personal standard of discipline, conduct and appearance as a representative of the company and develop and maintain a high standard of professional expertise and morale amongst the crew
  • Ensure that aircraft crew members have valid licenses, medical certificates and passports and visas if and when required
  • Ensure compliance with customs, immigration and cabotage laws.
  • Prepare and submit reports in accordance with the Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Duties as assigned by the Director of Flight Operations or Chief Pilot
Experience:
  • Technical/logistical degree or equivalent experience. A strong operational background, significant technical knowledge, and operations experience in the aviation industry
  • Minimum 1500 hours Total Time with 500 as PIC
  • Has at least three years relevant aviation industry experience
  • Multi Crew Experience
  • Hold a Valid TC Airline Transport Pilots License and Valid Instrument rating (ATPL) or IATRA written completed
  • Experience working with flight planning and flight scheduling software
  • Westcoast mountain flying, including operating into uncontrolled airports
  • Previous Pilatus or Turbine Experience
  • Experience in corporate aviation and processes
Skills and Requirements:
  • Hold a valid Class 1 TC Aviation Medical
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations
  • Valid Canadian Passport and the ability to travel to the U.S.
  • Must pass a background check
  • Ability to obtain Airport Security Clearance (RAIC)
  • Computer proficiency including document formatting
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel domestic and internationally, as required
  • Flexible to work a varying work schedule and on call basis as required
  • Evening and weekend work may be required with notice
  • Flexible to work a varying work schedule and on call basis as required (shifts of 12 hours or more, evening and weekend work)
  • Located within 1.5-hour drive from the Kelowna airport considered an asset
