Catherine Place is a 104-suite independent retirement residence nestled in the beautiful St. Boniface neighborhood offering various services.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working overnight shifts in housekeeping with assisted living, retirement residences or long term care an asset. A valid Manitoba driver's license. A local City of Winnipeg, provincial or out of province police check and a vulnerable sector check is required. Must be able to read, write and speak and understand English fluently.

QUALITIES: The ability to work individually and in a team setting. Excellent interpersonal communication skills particularly with seniors. Previous retirement/assisted living employment is an asset.

POSITION: This part time/full time permanent (32 hours per week). The typical shifts are Friday-Monday overnights. The position is responsible for performing housekeeping tasks in an efficient manner, with due consideration for the needs and comfort of the residents. Answering phone calls, attending to any overnight emergency calls of seniors and securing appropriate emergency services as required. Some laundry and dietary tasks may be required. Some grounds work is required along with leaf & snow clearing when needed.

Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in the English language. Must be able to speak fluent English clearly. Needs visual acuity to ensure cleaning tasks are performed to standards. Must be physically able to perform the duties and withstand long periods of standing and throughout overnight hours. Experience in a long-term care or retirement home setting in a housekeeping department will be given preference.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs daily and weekly cleaning, mopping and vacuuming of residence and suites as required in accordance with established procedures, schedules and job routines.

Cleans all offices, staff room, common areas, resident laundry rooms, washrooms, hallways and stairwells according to established policies, procedures and schedules.

Answering phone calls, attending to any overnight emergency calls of seniors and securing appropriate emergency services as required. Completion of written incident reports as required.

Assists residents as needed.

Completing any laundry and dietary tasks that may be required for residence.

Completing any grounds work required along with leaf & snow clearing when needed.

Replenishes paper supplies and hand soap as required.

Provides general assistance to residents as required.

Ensures all carpet areas are stain free.

Completes inventory and audits as assigned.

Performs additional cleaning as required, in accordance with established procedures and schedules. Washes walls, ceilings, lights, vents, fans, appliances, insides and tops of windows, door frames and all wall hangings.

Picks up and disposes of recycling, garbage from waste containers daily along with tenants suites .

Ensures housekeeping room, closets, equipment and carts are kept in a clean, safe and sanitary condition.

Participates in applicable staff meetings and in-service training within the home.

Performs laundry duties as necessary.

Maintains effective communication, both written and verbal with co-workers. Uses the appropriate lines of communication with supervisory staff.

Complies with all relevant corporate policies and procedures.

Completes all required annual training/education.

Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Overnight Housekeeping Attendant Supervisor, Maintenance Manager and Executive Director
