Your Opportunity:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Overnight Youth Worker to join our team. This role is vital to our mission, involving awake-overnight supervision and support for children and youth affected by family crises, including those facing behavioral challenges. You will play a crucial role in ensuring safety, providing emotional support, and maintaining a therapeutic environment during overnight hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support children and youth throughout the night.
- Monitor and respond to behavioral and emotional needs during overnight hours.
- Ensure the safety and security of all residents and the home environment.
- Collaborate with MCFD, healthcare providers, and other professionals when required.
- Maintain detailed and confidential case notes regarding overnight activities and incidents.
- Perform necessary duties such as housekeeping and ensuring the home remains a safe space.
- Assist with morning routines to support a smooth transition for residents starting their day.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication and behavior management skills, particularly with adolescents.
- Proficient in understanding adolescent development and applying trauma-informed practices.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently during overnight hours.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for maintaining records and reports.
- Cultural competency and a non-judgmental, supportive approach.
Qualifications:
- Two years of post-secondary education or training in child/youth care or related field.
- Experience working with children and youth with behavioral challenges is an asset.
- Standard First Aid with CPR certificate.
- Must pass a Criminal Record Check and MCFD HUB check.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License and reliable vehicle with 3 million liability and business insurance.
- Understanding of mental health, substance misuse, attachment, and trauma-informed practice.
- Availability for overnight shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
