The Women\xe2\x80\x99s Residential Addiction Treatment Program supports adults concerned about their substance use. We are looking for a reliable individual who is committed to strength-based, person focused care to join our team as an Overnight Attendant. This person will work as part of the staff team and provide overnight support to clients within our Residential Addiction Treatment Program. This is primarily a sleep position.

** This is a contract, part-time position, from October 5, 2023 to October 24, 2024,

offering 27 hours per week. Regular schedule to be Thursday to Saturday, from 11pm to 8am.

Option to pick up additional relief Overnight Attendant shifts, 7 days a week,

at Men and Women\xe2\x80\x99s Residential Addiction Treatment Programs, as needed and as available. **

Key Responsibilities:

\xc2\xb7 Supervise the residence during the overnight hours

\xc2\xb7 Complete safety checks

\xc2\xb7 Establish and maintain a helping relationship with program participants while upholding appropriate professional boundaries

\xc2\xb7 Complete administrative tasks

\xc2\xb7 Maintain confidentiality in compliance with Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)

\xc2\xb7 Complete documentation and data entry in line with agency and legislative requirements

\xc2\xb7 Assess complex situations and make appropriate decisions independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a team

Skills & Experience:

\xc2\xb7 Minimum Grade 12 high school, required

\xc2\xb7 Previous experience in a social service setting

\xc2\xb7 Excellent interpersonal communication skills

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of addictions and recovery issues

\xc2\xb7 Health and social services training

\xc2\xb7 Sensitivity to and knowledge of issues relating to and impacting on all genders

\xc2\xb7 Commitment to understand and uphold the mission and values of House of Friendship is expected

\xc2\xb7 Exemplary emotional intelligence, resilience, communication, conflict management and problem solving skills required

\xc2\xb7 Ability to work professionally as a team member with staff, participants and community members

\xc2\xb7 Experience or strong interest in working with diverse populations including people from various cultural backgrounds, income levels, and sensitivity to their needs

\xc2\xb7 Experience with and commitment to using an anti-racism, anti-oppressive and trauma informed approach to consultation, program design, evaluations of processes and service delivery

\xc2\xb7 Must be dependable, professional, flexible, a team player, and have a positive attitude

\xc2\xb7 Respectful, supportive and engaging approach to persons with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, addictions, mental illness and other life challenges

\xc2\xb7 Excellent project, timeline and deadline management skills including skills in logistics, planning and detailed record keeping

\xc2\xb7 Current Standard First Aid with CPR A Training (or willingness to obtain upon hiring)

Rate of Pay:

At House of Friendship all compensation ranges are categorized under a series of \xe2\x80\x9cgrades\xe2\x80\x9d and we base our payment structure on internal equity. When determining rate of pay, a candidate\xe2\x80\x99s past related experience will be taken into consideration along with where others with similar experience are currently on the pay grid. Note: Due to the internal composition of our pay grids, many team members with lengthy experience are between the start and mid-point of the range and therefore most new team members will be placed accordingly.

Min: $18.32
Mid: $20.80
Max: $23.28

Working Conditions:

\xc2\xb7 Primarily a sleep position

\xc2\xb7 Must be able to respond during crises

\xc2\xb7 Often this role is the sole staff person on shift

\xc2\xb7 Required to assess situations and make decisions under pressure with minimal supervisor

\xc2\xb7 Must remain at the facility for meals and other breaks

\xc2\xb7 Encountering participants at program sites who may be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, and/or experiencing symptoms of mental illness can be expected
