Job Summary:

The Young Parent Outreach Worker will support young parents (age 16-25 years of age) in Burnaby. This role focuses on prevention, early intervention, and strengthening family functioning by offering in-home support. The Young Parent Outreach Worker helps foster safety, stability, and well-being for families through culturally safe, trauma-informed, and community-centered approaches.

Manager for Pre and Post Natal Services

Key Duties and Responsibilities:



Conducts regular home and community visits to support families in their home and community environments. Work with participants to create clear goals and service plans. Offer parenting support, including education on child development, routines, discipline and attachment, while promoting positive parent-child interaction from a child centered approach. Support families in navigating community resources, services, and cultural supports. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of community resources and liaises with relevant agencies, professionals, and the community. Support the objectives of the Young Parent Program, adhere to funder objectives/requirements, and use established BFL program standards. Establishes positive rapport with participants using a non-judgmental approach and harm reduction model and relates to participants in a caring, positive, open and culturally sensitive manner. Upholds confidentiality, cultural humility, and trauma-informed practice in all interactions. Works independently while performing outreach activities yet also works as a cohesive member of a diverse team within BFL's Pre and Postnatal Services. Ensures accurate and timely documentation of services provided and concerns observed. Maintains client files (intakes, contact notes, services plans, incident reporting, file closures, etc.). Upholds and produces documentation required to report direct and indirect hours to program funder. Ensures that all required documentation is accurate and complete according to BFL and specific funder requirements. Maintains up to date and accurate signature list for distributed resources (i.e. bus tickets, Farmers Market coupons.) Participates in team meetings and community events as required. Performs other duties related to this role as required.

Requirements:



Diploma or degree in a related human/social service field One-year recent related experience, or an equivalent of education, training and experience. No criminal record Valid Driver's License Clear Driver's Abstract Experience working with Indigenous and Immigrant communities is an asset

Hours:

7 hours daily, for a total of 35 hours weekly

Wage

: $27.33 - $29.84 based on education and experience

Benefits:

Eligibility for group benefits after probation period
