Blood Ties Four Directions Centre is looking for an Outreach Worker! Position Overview: Outreach Worker The Outreach Worker works in a team of two Outreach Workers and collaboratively with other agency staff as well as community partners to deliver the following activities:
Provide case management services through a harm reduction lens to people who use substances, people experiencing housing insecurity or who are unhoused, and people living with HIV and/or Hep C
Coordinate the Steve Cardiff Tiny House Community and Landlords Working to End Homelessness housing programs
Deliver outreach support at Blood Ties housing programs, on the Outreach Van, at satellite harm reduction sites, at partner organizations, and through mobile on-the-ground outreach services
Provide lay counselling, advocacy, systems navigation, and housing-related support
Distribute harm reduction supplies and deliver harm reduction education, opioid overdose awareness and education, and sexually transmitted and blood borne infection prevention education
Manage harm reduction supply stock and distribution
Design and deliver harm reduction materials and programs to align with community needs and best practices
Conducting weekly check-ins with residents living in Blood Ties housing
Deliver trainings for other services providers
Work on the Outreach Van two evenings per month
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience delivering support services to marginalized populations
Experience coordinating and delivering health- and wellness-related activities or programs for marginalized populations
An understanding of the principles of harm reduction and a non-judgmental approach to substance use, with preference given to those with direct experience working in a harm reduction setting
Experience working with Indigenous people and communities
Awareness of the importance of cultural safety and trauma-informed care
Ability to set and maintain boundaries with clients in complex situations
Post-secondary education in the social, human, or health services field or relevant combination of work and experience
Current Standard First Aid and CPR
A valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
