JOB POSTING Title: Outreach Specialist \xe2\x80\x93 Employment Programs Location: Toronto (GTA), Ontario \xe2\x80\x93 Canadian Hard of Hearing (CHHA) \xe2\x80\x93 Must be able to work virtually from home office and be mobile to travel within the GTA Region. Position Status: Part-time, 24 hours per week Contract Duration: April 1, 2023- March 31, 2024 (12 months) Reports to: Project Manager Compensation: $25 \xe2\x80\x93$30 per hour Closing date: March 31st, 2023 Email Resume & cover letter to: humanresources@chha.ca Subject Line: Outreach Specialist- Ontario Position Summary: The Outreach Specialist \xe2\x80\x93 Employment Programs will lead the community outreach initiatives for the Accessible Navigation to Employment (ANTE) program contract with ESDC (Employment and Social Development Canada) in the province of Ontario, with focus on the GTA Region. As the outreach specialist representing the region, they will be the primary liaison between the CHHA National Office, ANTE Core Project team, Employers and Deaf and Hard of Hearing community members for the purpose of facilitating project participation. The Project Objectives are to:
  • Improve the 9 competencies from the Skills for Success (SFS) framework among members of the
Deaf and HOH (Hard of Hearing) community through online training and accreditation.
  • Target members of the Deaf and HOH community who are completing postsecondary courses, unemployed and/or underemployed to provide access to job placements where participants can apply the competencies;
  • Develop educational resources and practical training for employers and employment agencies to create inclusive workplaces;
  • Improve labour market participation and success amongst the Deaf and HOH community; and
  • Develop a sustainable online skill upgrading program and resources to support ongoing job placements.
The Outreach Specialist will: Outreach Activities - 70% of the role
  • Conduct outreach to build awareness around the ANTE project and to recruit learners/job seekers and employers in the region.
  • Conduct effective, professional outreach that meets the needs of the ANTE Program including digital engagement, one-to-one phone and in-person engagement, external events, and community outreach.
  • Develop and maintain an outreach plan, which centres on communicating and marketing ANTE program activities, and events for learners and employers.
  • Provide supervision to work placements and collaborate with ANTE Team to facilitate supports to learners and employers.
  • Disseminate marketing material in GTA/Ontario region.
Program Support - 30% of the role
  • Work collaboratively with the ANTE Core Project Team.
  • Deliver employer education sessions that address accessibility and inclusion.
  • Conduct feedback through surveys and interviews as required.
  • Provide Bi-Weekly outreach activity updates with the ANTE National Outreach Team.
  • Provide CHHA National with financial and outreach reports including invoices per the established schedule and/or by request.
QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience:
  • Post Secondary Diploma/Undergraduate degree or equivalent education in relevant field
  • Professional experience in external communications, community development, building business partnerships, or related fields
  • Experience working with a national organization / disability organization \xe2\x80\x93 preferably related to hearing health.
  • Preferred experience of minimum 3-5 years in non-profit or community outreach activities.
Skills & Knowledge:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of outreach and relationship building best practices, the candidate will be required to be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and community driven.
  • The candidate must also possess considerable understanding of current equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging practices and proactively build a strong practice of caring in all outreach activities.
  • Ability to work independently and actively take initiative when met with challenges.
  • Exceptional time and priority management
  • Expertise in Microsoft office, Video Conferencing Tools, and Social Media tools.
  • Knowledge or personal lived experiences related to hearing loss issues, disabilities, and/or accessibility and inclusion are an asset
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
