Community Support Worker (CSW)
to join our team in
Penticton
. This multifaceted role involves supporting clients referred by
Community Living BC (CLBC)
in developing skills and achieving employment goals, while contributing to positive community impact through proactive support of unhoused or at-risk individuals. The CSW will maintain accurate and timely client documentation, uphold confidentiality in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA
)
, and foster professional, respectful, and collaborative relationships with clients, their support networks, other service providers, and the Piers team.
Responsibilities:

Community Support Worker:
Work with individuals referred to Piers by Community Living BC (CLBC) on Skill Development, Employment, or Community-Based Harm Reduction
Work with clients to gain or maintain housing, provide life skills, outreach activities, and resources and provide support to individuals who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness,
Assist clients in their quest for establishing a better quality of life through support and encouragement and keeping abreast of the local community services
Assist clients with life skills, housing and employment goals through facilitation, action plans, and goal setting
Utilize various counselling and life skills techniques and practices to work through client crisis's
Assist individuals to live safely in the community, maintain their physical and emotional health, foster positive interpersonal relationships with family and community, and to develop the skills necessary to increase the individual's independence
Support the human rights of individuals through the development of self-worth and empowering individuals to become the primary decision-makers in their lives
Collaborate with community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to collaborative coordinate wrap-around supports for individuals,
Participate in community activities that provide client with an opportunity to enhance their skills
Accurately record client activity, file maintenance and collect data for monthly Piers reports
Be responsible for transporting client in a safe and insured vehicle, ensuring to follow transportation/safety policies
Attend staff, community meetings as requested and schedule by your supervisor
Refer participants to appropriate resources, such as treatment, mental health services, health services, food banks, shelters, employment services, etc.
Conduct intake and develop an Action Plan with the client and with the support of family or support network
Maintain communication with family/support network to ensure they are kept informed of clients developments and have opportunity to provide feedback
Inform management of any incidents that may occur and involve CLBC participant - all incidents to be reported to CLBC immediately
Work collaboratively with Piers on other projects and supporting clients in future contracts
Regularly visit CLBC website to keep updated on information available to participants, any new initiatives that may benefit clients, as well as Health and Safety protocols
