Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.
  • Leads training preferred or combination of Leads and/or leadership training courses.
  • Current Manitoba registration with CRNM in good standing required.
Special Training:
  • Knowledge of SIMS (Surgical Information Systems) required.
  • Must be able to function independently and commutate effectively with all levels of staff, government, media and the public.
Experience
  • 5 or more years\' relevant experience as registered nurse.
  • Nursing care knowledge related to pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Expertise in health information systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Critical thinking skills/abilities.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office tools.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Ability to cope with unexpected interruptions in order to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Good physical and mental health required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Graduate of approved Registered Nursing program.
Main Function: (In Order of Importance):
  • Working closely with Surgeons/Physicians, Central Intake teams and DSRTF Out of province (OOP) service providers to facilitate and coordinate travel out of Manitoba.
  • Inform patients and teach patients about the DSRTF OOP process - pre-operative/procedure process and post-operative/procedure process.
  • Out of province specialty nurses use their clinical expertise and knowledge to enlighten/teach patients & families about post-operative/procedure travel, field questions about analgesics/medications
  • Out of province specialty nurses provide emotional support and empowerment to patients and their families.
Illustrative Examples of Activities of Position:
  • Work closely with Surgeons/Physicians and Central Intake team to coordinate out of province service.
  • Inform and teach patients about the pre-operative procedure/process to prepare patients for diagnostic and surgical process.
  • Inform and teach patients about the post-operative procedure/process to prepare them for their post-operative recovery.
  • Respond to questions about analgesics/medications for diagnostic and surgical procedure/process.
  • Provide emotional support and empowerment to patients and their families.
  • Attend and represent the organization at professional conferences, in-service trainings, and meetings as required.
  • May be required to perform other duties and functions related to this job description not exceeding above stated skills and capabilities.
