Join our dynamic Camping and Outdoor Education Team, where every day is different, and you will always be engaged with meaningful work!



Working together on a tight-knit team, Outdoor Educators provide direct program delivery in all areas of the Outdoor Centre. These staff work directly with students, families, and adults and facilitate a range of programs including leadership and teambuilding activities, winter camping and sleeping in snow shelters, cross country skiing, back country skiing, snowshoeing, snow tubing, broomball, low ropes, high ropes, winter ecology, fire building, SHSM workshops and much more. In addition, Outdoor Educators assist in the development of new programs, as well as the revision, amendment and maintenance of existing programs and their equipment. Outdoor Educators also support on our facilities and kitchen teams on a daily basis as required.



Accommodation and meals are provided on-site at no additional cost; however, staff living on site may be scheduled for 2-3 on-call shifts per week.


In this role, you will:




Provide direct program delivery to participants of all ages in a fun, engaging, and safe manner. Outdoor programs include activities such as leadership and teambuilding activities, winter camping and sleeping in snow shelters, cross country skiing, back country skiing, snowshoeing, snow tubing, broomball, low ropes, high ropes, winter ecology, fire building, SHSM workshops, etc Act as primary hosts and facilitators for individuals and groups, ensuring group goals are met and overall satisfaction with facilities, programs and staff. Help maintain the cleanliness of camp spaces by assisting with site cleaning and helps the kitchen team with mealtime dish return and washing Monitor the safety of all activities and programs throughout the duty period, act proactively and respond immediately to rectify any safety concerns; fill out YMCA Accident/Incident forms and follow up forms as required and submits within 24 hours Ensure Health & Safety procedures are maintained, and shares with the staff team the duty of ensuring camp is clean, organized and safe to ensure the Health & Safety of all camp participants. Support in kitchen and maintenance roles as required Continuously build relationships with participants, members, staff, volunteers and community partners, representing the YMCA, Association, and Camp Pine Crest in a professional manner Understand the importance of the volunteer-staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff Perform other duties as assigned

You bring:




Prior experience planning and/or facilitating fun and engaging group activities in a winter context preferred Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C required for the duration of the contract Challenge Course/High Ropes training and experience - ACCT Level 2 is an asset Wilderness First Aid certification (WFR, WAFA, WFA) is an asset Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays required Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
