Position Summary/ Job Purpose
The outbound team is accountable for accurate picking, palletizing, movement and shipping of product being transferred within the warehouse and the retail stores. The job is not complete until all tasks are completed and all product is anchored, palletized, wrapped, weighed and loaded to the carrier trailers.
The shipping dock is to ensure all pallets for drive stores are prepared and loaded onto the transport trailers at the end of each business day.
During peak volume seasons, the outbound team members will collaborate with members of the inbound, packaging and order processing teams, to ensure daily picking is completely processed. Leadership will shift resourcing from other areas of the DC to support peak outbound tasks such as picking and pallet preparation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Primary tasks:

  • Outbound tasks focus on Stock keeping and Shipping functions which include:
  • Picking cases and transporting to drop zones
  • Picking pallets and transporting to drop zones
  • Consolidating cases and pallets as required
  • Anchoring and building outbound pallets
  • Preparing outbound pallets for transport
  • Loading trailers with material handling equipment
  • Creating and preparing bills of lading for outbound transport
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of their work area and support surrounding areas which include; sweeping, emptying garbage, recycling cardboard, removing debris and restocking supplies
  • Following policies and operating procedures and training others as required.
  • Recommend process improvements
  • Assist with Cycle Count activities
  • Overall warehouse
Secondary tasks:
  • The DC outbound role will be required to help support other areas of the warehouse. Tasks may include:
  • DC inbound tasks
  • Unloading of delivery vehicles, and confirming, signing and logging waybills
  • Examining shipments for damage, and process discrepancies
  • Receive and label cases with LPN's
  • Updating product dimensions, weights and SKU barcodes
  • Verifying box counts, sorting and delivering receipts to correct drop locations.
  • Using all required machinery to put away cases and pallets from the drop locations
  • Order processing for ecommerce shipments (picking, packing, decanting, shipping):
  • Accurately picking products for customer orders, internal and external using the following technology: Autostore, Vocollect and RF handhelds.
  • Replenishing Autostore and conventional pick locations
  • Preparing picked orders for transfer to a shipping container
  • Perform quality assurance on orders
  • Consolidate and transfer orders to the appropriate areas
  • Oversized order packing
  • Packing and sealing outbound cartons
  • Shipping and loading carrier trailers via the fluid loading process
  • Packaging tasks:
  • Reading and understanding packaging procedure documents
  • Counting sorting and bagging product from bulk cases
  • Prepackaging products to make sets
  • Reboxing and labelling new cases
  • Keeping accurate counts of products packaged
  • Maintaining orderly and accurate records
  • Repackaging product purchased in bulk into smaller quantities for sale to customer
Education and Experience
High school; typically requires 1-2 years of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment or equivalent
