Position Summary




The Rehabilitation Assistant is responsible for implementing occupational therapy and physiotherapy interventions with inpatients in one or more clinical programs under the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist. This involves both direct patient care and non-patient care.


Qualifications




Graduate of a recognized Occupational Therapy Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant educational program is required. Previous experience in an Occupational TherapyPLS Department, Physiotherapy Department or a Rehabilitation setting an asset. Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously in a demanding environment demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication and superior interpersonal skills, an excellent attendance records. Demonstrated ability to function collaboratively and effectively within an interdisciplinary team and with the community partners. Demonstrated sound clinical judgment, flexibility and initiative. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and other professionals. Demonstrated superior organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated awareness of community supports and services for identified populations would be an asset. Demonstrated commitment to clinical competence within a patient focused care structure. Demonstrated knowledge of equipment e.g. wheelchair supplies and seating equipment etc. Demonstrated knowledge of the rehabilitation approach to patient care and the roles of Occupational and Physical Therapy.
