Reporting to the Project Manager, the OSP Designer will be responsible for all facets of designing for our existing and perspective Utility Telecommunication clients.

What You\'ll Do Here:

  • Engineering aerial, underground & inside copper and/or fiber routes and road moves.
  • Design copper routes and lay-out count including size and gauge of cable including: terminals, cross box, loop make-ups, rearrangement, bridge tap removal, circuit types & pair conditioning.
  • Design fiber routes and lay-out counts including: FTTH, FTTP, FTTC & Ethernet.
  • Research and define local jurisdictional regulations, coordinate permit application process and ensure that design conforms to specifications.
  • Work within defined QA/QC review process to ensure accuracy with final drawings.
  • Oversee projects from the beginning design phase until completion.
  • Act as the point of contact for all home owners (on behalf of the client), project team members and civil and/or splicing teams.
  • Coordinating between CAD Techs, project team members, and external partners.
  • Conducting field surveys (aerial and underground)
  • Complete pole line analysis (Ocalc, QuickPole)
  • Attend customer meetings and perform site surveys or walk-outs as necessary to comply with customer requirements.
  • Additional duties as required.
What You Bring to the Team:
  • 1-2 years of design experience in Utilities and Telecommunications considered an asset.
  • Understanding of CAD and software applications used to create engineering designs.
  • Knowledge of customer database systems (i.e.. NetX, ipairs, etc.)
  • Survey or CAD experience is an asset.
  • Post-secondary degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering or equivalent is an asset.
  • Proficient with the use of computers and software, including MS Office (Word, Visio, Excel).
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, ability to learn new skills and adapt.
  • Ability to liaise with customers and clients to resolve any challenges.
