Job Overview:

Reporting to the Director and receiving direction from the Senior Oracle Programmer, the Oracle Programmer performs a variety of duties related to various aspects of data management for the organization including data being linked and/or extracted as well as being logical, consistent and correctly reflecting the information stored in the databases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develops, implements and maintains large epidemiological Oracle databases
• Integrates relational databases into an information system
• Develops and maintains client applications using Oracle Forms and Reports
• Develops web-based applications using Oracle Application Express (APEX)
• Creates customized reports and ad-hoc queries
• Provides training and support to Oracle application end-users regarding issues such as access methods, technical problems, and database policies and procedures
• Determines and resolves data-related problems of a scientific nature
• Conducts performance tuning/improvement of queries and database responsiveness
• Builds business practices to facilitate the processing, cleaning, quality assurance, and review of clinical study data
• Presents layout, formatting and design recommendations including various delivery methods
• Prepares technical design documentation to support code development.
• Executes code development and unit test
• Provides management with timely reports related to development activities
• Performs other duties as required

What will help you succeed:

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Computer Science or related fields
• Related experience working with relational databases
• Strong knowledge of Oracle RDBMS, SQL and PL/SQL
• Demonstrated expertise in Oracle Forms and Reports
• Experience in Oracle Application Express (APEX) is required
• Able to work independently to meet team and organizational goals
• Excellent problem solving and organization skills
• Attention to detail
• Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to interact with colleagues from various backgrounds
• Able to conduct research, risk analysis and recommend appropriate strategies/solutions
