Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and support within our optometry practice. This position involves assisting with various tasks related to patient interactions, office operations, and optical services, ensuring a seamless experience for our patients.

Duties

Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out processes. Conduct preliminary patient assessments, including taking medical histories and recording vital signs. Assist the optometrist during eye examinations by preparing necessary equipment and instruments. Manage electronic medical records (EMR) accurately, ensuring all patient information is up-to-date. Provide information about eyewear options, including frames and lenses, while promoting optical products. Handle retail sales transactions efficiently, including processing payments and managing inventory. Educate patients on proper contact lens care and maintenance. Schedule appointments and follow up with patients as needed. Maintain a clean and organized front desk area to enhance the overall patient experience.

Experience

Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

Previous experience in a medical office or optometry setting is preferred. Familiarity with electronic medical records systems, particularly Epic, is advantageous. Strong understanding of medical terminology related to optometry. Experience in sales or retail sales, especially in an optical environment, is a plus. Ability to provide excellent patient care with a focus on customer service. Experience working with pediatric patients is beneficial but not required. Proficiency in front desk operations and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
