We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. This role is vital in providing exceptional patient care and support within our practice. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of medical office experience and customer service skills, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation while assisting patients with their eye care needs.
Duties
Assist the optometrist during eye examinations by preparing patients, managing equipment and preliminary testing.
Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) for all patient visits, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
Provide exceptional patient care by answering questions, addressing concerns, and guiding patients through their appointments.
Manage front desk operations, including scheduling appointments, checking in patients, and processing payments/insurance.
Utilize knowledge of medical terminology to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
Collaborate with team members to ensure a welcoming environment for patients and their families.
Requirements
Previous medical office experience is preferred but not mandatory, particularly in an optometry setting.
Familiarity with electronic medical records systems is advantageous
Strong background in patient care, demonstrating empathy and effective communication skills.
Experience in front desk operations within a healthcare or retail environment is beneficial.
Understanding of medical terminology relevant to eye care practices is preferred.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
