Our practice has been in this location for over 20 years and has a longstanding reputation in our community for providing exceptional patient care to families in and around the Niagara region. Dr. Wylie Tan acquired this office in 2021 and now under new management, we are bringing in new technologies and expanding to help better serve our growing patient base. This is an exciting time for growth for our practice and for our staff. We need more hands on deck, and we'd love for you to grow with us.

We are seeking a personable, dependable, and professional Optometric Assistant to join us. We are willing to train the right person who demonstrates a commitment to exceptional customer service and a desire to learn. Experience in the Optometry or medical field is an asset.

Responsibilities:



Greeting patients professionally in person, by telephone, text or online; checking patients in for their appointments; and performing OHIP validation Performing administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and maintaining patient records Making recalls, booking and confirming appointments Verifying patient information, insurance, and medical history Preparing examination rooms and equipment for the Optometrists Collecting patient history and inputting information into electronic medical records Pretesting patients and other auxiliary tests Explaining procedures, product recommendations, and related costs to patients Facilitating patient referrals to other health care professionals Assisting in ordering of contact lenses, glasses, and other products Educating patients on proper contact lens use, care, and handling Assisting patients with selecting new eyewear and choosing lenses based on doctor's recommendations Assisting in glasses repairs, adjustments, and dispensing Ensuring an efficient flow through the office while providing an enjoyable patient experience Complying with all regulations and standards of the optometry practice and the industry Performing other related duties as required.

Requirements:



College/University Graduate Basic computer competency, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems is a plus Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Willingness to learn about optometry equipment, terminology, and procedures Ability to maintain patient confidentiality Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team Experience in optometry, medical, or office settings is an asset
