Licensed Optician - Winnipeg

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a highly organized and personable individual to join our team as an Optician for our Garden City area office.

The Optician will assist our clients in the selection of eyeglass frames, take the necessary measurements and arrange for the production of eyeglasses or contact lenses, mount lenses in eyeglass frames and fit clients with final prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses.

As the Optician, you will:
  • Warmly greet and assist clients, advising on eyeglasses selection by informing them of various products such as lens materials, frames, tints and anti-reflection coating.
  • Adjust contact lenses and inform clients on use and care.
  • Grind, polish, cut and edge lenses or have them made by a laboratory before inserting them into the frame.
  • Adjust finished eyeglasses to fit the client.
  • Maintain inventory levels of available product.
  • Supervise or manage the activities of other opticians or student opticians.
  • Process insurance claims, verify coverage, and aid clients with insurance-related queries.
  • Collect payments, explain costs, and manage financial transactions accurately.
  • Utilize office software and practice management tools to streamline administrative tasks and record-keeping.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized office while coordinating with colleagues for efficient customer flow.
You and Your Experience:
  • A valid Optician License, up to date and in good standing,
  • Experience with retail sales or customer service would be considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of optical principles, lens options and frame styles.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact warmly and professionally with diverse individuals.
  • Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using optical software and optical equipment.
  • A positive attitude, empathetic demeanor, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
