Job Summary

We are seeking an ophthalmic technician to be a foundational component of our new clinic, Waterloo Region Retina Institute. The ideal candidate will provide excellent patient care in a busy ophthalmology practice. Prior experience in an optometry/ophthalmology settings is preferred.

This is a permanent part-time position Tuesdays and Fridays with the likely progression to a full-time position in 1 year.

Responsibilities

Perform basic patient histories and patient intake Perform preliminary eye examinations including visual acuity, intraocular pressure, administration of drops. Training is provided Perform diagnostic testing (OCT, fundus photography, visual fields, biometry, autorefraction). Training is provided Clean and maintain ophthalmic equipment and instruments Load examination lanes with patients Prepare medications for physician use

Experience working in the ophthalmic/optometric industry preferred Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as OSCAR preferred Proven ability to work proficiently in a fast-paced environment Demonstrate high quality, compassionate, and patient-centered experience Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent attendance and employment record

Range

: $22-$25/hr commensurate on experience
