Prism Eye Institute (PEI) has been serving the communities of North York, Brampton, Oakville/Mississauga and surrounding areas for over 50 years.

In 2020 North Toronto Eye Care (NTEC) merged with Prism Eye Institute, to form Prism Group Holdings (Prism), the largest Ophthalmology practice in Canada.

In 2022, PEI further strengthened a partnership with Vision Group Canada (VGC) and is working to expand its footprint nationally. VGC operates over 50 clinics and 70 surgical facilities performing over 100,000 procedures annually.

PEI is an internationally renowned institute with 5 facilities and 2 surgical centres, serving over 200,000 patients and perform 10,000 surgeries each year. Prism is a centre of excellence providing a full spectrum of eye care and recognized for handling some of the most complex eye diseases in the world.

Our surgical center, located in North York, has an exciting opportunity for a Surgical Nurse to join our amazing team. As part of our team you will contribute to providing care to our surgical clients. Your duties will be to provide scrub nurse services in the operating room during surgical procedures under the direction of the Surgeon and will include:

Circulating in the Operating Room

Assisting in the PACU area, pre/post-op care

Ensure sterile surgical set-up

Ensure good working order of equipment and instruments

Ensuring efficient patient flow through the Operating Room

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

A nurse with experience in the OR preferred

Cataract or Oculoplastic Surgery Experience an asset

Working knowledge of EMR (OSCAR would be an asset)

Focus on patient experience, caring, compassionate and patient-family centered

Organised, safety conscious, great communicator

Committed and hard working

Experience multi-tasking and working well as part of a team.

Ability to speak Italian would be considered an asset.

Ability to prioritize; strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Ability to multi-task, adapt to change, and work under pressure

Qualifications:

Diploma in nursing of a recognized college or school of nursing or equivalent an asset

Current certification or eligibility for certification of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario required

Current BCLS certification required. Current ALS certification preferred.

Demonstrates knowledge, experience and the ability to care for patients with the following: initiation and maintenance of IV therapy, administration of medication as required, aseptic techniques, blood glucose monitoring, wound management skills, routine infection control practices, vital monitoring.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
