Agriculture - Sylvite provides a full supply chain solution for crop input products such as fertilizer, seed and pesticides. Transportation - The transportation group at Sylvite not only coordinates part of the agricultural supply chain but also provides logistics services to a large customer base, transporting goods throughout Canada and the United States.

Job Responsibilities



Primary Function:

Responsible for supporting the operations of the branch/terminal in bulk receiving, handling and shipping crop input products. Responsible for day-to-day operations of plant functions (filling, stacking, bulk loading, production support, and fork truck operations).
Site Operations:

Receive trucks (or railcars and vessels where applicable) of fertilizer, seeds, chemicals or other products. Maintain professionalism and a customer service attitude towards customers or truck drivers when delivering or picking up products at the branch. Apply fertilizer to Sylvite customers as directed by the customer and sales team. Make fertilizer blends as directed by the sales team for customer pick-ups or deliveries. Assist operators in the blending for and loading of outbound trucks. Deliver fertilizer or assist custom applications. Perform routine maintenance on loading and blending equipment. Package fertilizer or other dry products as required. Load packaged products with a forklift as required. Perform routine clean up and maintenance of the site. All PPE must be worn as required & prescribed. All near miss, incidents, accidents & injuries must be reported to the Plant Supervisor immediately. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Delivery/Pickup of Loads:

Arrive at customer location at a specified time. Load and unload packaged products with forklift onto or off of trucks. Maintain professionalism and a customer service attitude towards customers or truck drivers when delivering or picking up products at the branch.

Become knowledgeable about all Sylvite divisions and the products and services they provide to customers. Documentation of all processes and tasks for which a function is responsible. Demonstrate a high degree of service to and collaboration with other business units. Provide support to other department members maintaining a sense of team. Provide positive feedback to others, when possible, and coach others for success. Recommend opportunities for improvement of processes and systems as a result of the function performed or based on observations. Must contribute to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations. Recommend opportunities for reducing costs.

Education, Experience and / or Training Requirements:



1+ year loading/unloading service experience; rail car offloading preferred for some locations 1+ year experience with receiving, handling, and shipping bulk materials preferred. Forklift certificate preferred. Equipment experience with front end loaders and lift trucks an asset. Equipment maintenance an asset. Grain elevator experience an asset. G license required, DZ license preferred but willing to train. 1+ year fertilizer blending experience.
