SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Position Summary
The Operator, Elevator & Seed Plant, ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality handling, processing, shipping and packaging of pulses, grains and oilseeds. The role contributes directly to product quality, operational reliability, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction.

1. Safe & Efficient Operations
Outcome:
Grains are received, processed, stored, and shipped efficiently, accurately, and without incident.
Key Results:
Grain and seed are received, dried, stored, and shipped according to established procedures and timelines.
Equipment is operated safely and efficiently with minimal delays or errors.
Trucks, containers, and railcars are loaded and unloaded without damage, spills, or safety incidents.
Peak-season throughput targets are met while maintaining quality and safety standards.
2. Seed Quality & Product Integrity
Outcome:
All grain and seed products meet internal quality standards and customer specifications.
Key Results:
Incoming grain and seed are accurately sampled, weighed, and inspected for moisture, impurities, and damage.
Seed cleaning, grading, treating, and packaging processes meet quality and regulatory standards.
Contamination risks are minimized through proper cleaning, handling, and segregation.
3. Equipment Reliability & Maintenance
Outcome:
Elevator and seed plant equipment is reliable, well-maintained, and available when needed.
Key Results:
Daily inspections and routine maintenance are completed as scheduled.
Minor equipment issues are identified and resolved promptly to minimize downtime.
Equipment breakdowns are reported accurately and escalated appropriately.
Work areas and equipment are kept clean, organized, and operationally ready.
4. Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
Outcome:
A safe, compliant, and well-controlled work environment is maintained at all times.
Key Results:
All work is performed in compliance with safety policies, WHMIS, and regulatory requirements.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is used correctly and consistently.
Safety hazards are identified, reported, and addressed promptly.
No preventable safety incidents occur due to unsafe operation or non-compliance.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in grain handling and seed processing operation is an asset.
Willingness and ability to learn elevator and seed plant operations.
Skills and Capabilities
Ability to safely operate and monitor mechanical and equipment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and documentation.
Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and data entry.
Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
Strong safety awareness and reliability.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions.
Ability to lift 100 lb bags occasionally.
Ability to shovel grain and work occasionally in dusty conditions with proper PPE.
Ability to work frequently at heights.
