Operations Technician / Control Room Operator - Adhoc
to join its Operations team focusing on the oil and gas petrochemical industry. This opportunity is offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, working as needed / on call.
The Role
Location: Offshore Newfoundland and Labrador
Site / Office based: Hibernia
Hours of work: 12 hours per day
Rotation / work pattern: as needed
Required: Site-specific medical, drug and alcohol testing
Unionized position: Rates follow the Collective Bargaining Agreement

Routine operation and inspection of all related pressure systems and rotating equipment
Testing of product quality to set specifications for sales, injection water, produced water, injection gas, potable and boiler feed water
Monitor, control, and perform minor maintenance/adjustments on operating systems
Maintain daily unit operating logbook for shift records
Operate safely and efficiently in accordance with established procedures and regulations
Report all accidents, near misses and hazardous conditions
Follow all control of work processes on a daily basis. (ie: permit to work, zero energy lockout)
Perform all routine housekeeping duties in work area
Member of Offshore Emergency Response Team as required
May be responsible for four working areas: HVAC, Topsides Process Systems, MPGs and Flare systems, Control Room - Process Control and Fire & Gas Control Systems
Control Room Operator will complete the assigned training and competency as outlined for their Area of responsibility; a Control Room Operator may be assigned to any area at any time, provided he / she has been successfully trained and assessed in that area.
Technologist or Industry Certification
Preferably 3-5 years related experience in the petrochemical industry
Working knowledge of process separation, compression, utility and power generation systems
Working knowledge of Control of Work Processes and Systems
Familiar with computerized maintenance management systems
Effective communication skills (written, oral and computer)
Demonstrated teamwork behaviors consistent with company values
Familiar with quality processes
Ability to understand and react with diverse groups and operations
Ability and willingness for on-the-job-training
For this position, the following training / certifications would be considered an asset:
Basic Survival Training (BST) including HUET and HUEBA
Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Alive
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015)
Offshore Safety Regulatory Awareness
Fall Protection
Confined Space Entry
Emergency First Aid
