What you will do:





Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Operations, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


Ensure clean and safe facilities in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, AODA, MOL, MOE, corporate policies, practices and procedures and other applicable legislation (e.g.,TSSA) Establish and model a strong customer service orientation Respond to, and resolve customer or operational issues in an effective and appropriate manner Supervise the day?to?day performance of operations staff (union and non-union) Assign work to facility services operational staff ensuring task completion and job action in alignment with legislated, corporate, departmental, divisional and industry best practices Create and follow through safe work/safe operating procedures Maintain inventory of equipment and assets, and ensure proper maintenance, utilization, and storage. Comply with all health and safety regulations and practices on site. Assist with recruitment and selection of operations staff; provides ongoing performance feedback and coaching Responsible for the orientation and development of operations staff Lead facility operational meetings as required Promote and demonstrate a positive work environment where employees are respected, and work co?operatively with other team members, sections and divisions. Demonstrate creativity, skill development and stays current with best practices, processes and procedures within the field. Assist the Manager in preparing annual budget and staffing requirements for the section Monitor budget and reports variances to the Manager Submit and authorize payroll and purchase orders related to operations Working with Manager, negotiate and manage service agreements as required Provide operations oversight within legislation, regulations and approved policies and procedures. Demonstrate labour practices that align with the section's labour agreements. Responsible for organizing and managing ongoing record keeping related to legislation and operational efficiencies. Participate in and monitor the activities as performed in the after-hours on-call program Participate, as a Supervisor, in a variety of corporate initiatives, as required

What you will bring:




A three(3)-year diploma or degree from a post-secondary institution in facility management, recreation or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered A minimum of three (3) years of experience in recreation facility operations including arenas, ice making activities, swim/aquatic pools and special event delivery logistics with additional two (2) years' of supervisory or lead hand experience in a unionized environment with excellent leadership, training and interpersonal skills Valid Refrigeration Operator Class B certification is required Must hold OFRA certifications: Certified Ice Technician and/or Certified Aquatics Technician (or Certified Pool Operator), Valid Class G driver's licence and use of a vehicle to travel to other City facilities Hold or willing to obtain Standard First Aid certification with CPR and AED. Certified Recreation Facilities Professional and/or Certified Arena Refrigeration Plant Technician would be considered an asset. Thorough knowledge of sports infrastructure, standards, inspections, specifications, equipment, materials and the Occupational Health and Safety Act Comprehensive knowledge of legislation as it relates to the operation of recreation facilities including arenas, ice-making, and pools The ability to function well under pressure, and to respond to frequently changing demands and priorities. Strong interpersonal communication and public relations skills; proven ability to deal cooperatively, efficiently, effectively and fairly with internal staff, contractors, suppliers, members of the public and external agencies/customers Knowledge of budget monitoring and control Ability to identify and safely respond to workplace hazards Strong written communication skills; ability to prepare accurate reports Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Excel and Word; knowledge of ActiveNet, Maximo and/or PeopleSoft will be considered an asset. What we will require:




A Police Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check satisfactory to the City Proof of your current and valid certificate(s), licenses and/or educational qualification

Flexible work schedule to support a 24-hour / 7 days a week operation. Alternative work shifts and/or work locations to manage other facility operations, evening and weekend events and services will be required. Operations Supervisors may be scheduled one weekend shift per month and participate in the rotating on-call program.
