About the opportunity



This is a key role, and you will be responsible for leading employees in QC and substitute Shift Supervisors if required to ensure team performance meets or exceeds goals by assigning duties, training and assisting the team, developing and motivating team performance. Some hiring and recruitment will be required during peak seasons, and the successful candidate can expect to demonstrate leadership by example regarding the company's health and safety policies.?

Substitute Operations Shift Supervisors as per Operations Supervisor job description when required according to their shift schedule.

KEY FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES



People



Maintaining a positive work environment

Communicating and demonstrating consistent support of ABCRC's values (customer focus, continuous improvement, integrity, valuing people and the health and safety of our employees, contractors, and guests)

Developing and maintaining a productive work team by assisting in hiring, training, and the development/providing guidance to the team

Effectively problem solve, delegate and follow-up on tasks assigned to team members

Managing employee performance and provide objective feedback

Safety



Ensuring the efficient and safe operation of all QC equipment, keeping work areas clean and free of any safety hazards at all time

Ensuring compliance with company Service Agreement, bylaws policies and procedures

Supervise the occupational health and safety aspects of work undertaken by team members within the work area; coaching and developing good safety habits among staff

Quality



Training employees on job functions and standard operating procedures

Effective and clear delivery of toolboxes

Ensuring compliance with Service Agreement and customer shipment specifications

Ensure organizational adherence and accountability to standard operating procedures

Maintain and prepare daily quality records and reports

Supervise all activities in QC area

Manage quarantine and challenge counts

Be present during BCMB audits

Evaluate QC statistical data to find deviations and report deviations to Plant Manager

Ensure that all bags selected for QC are received in QC and audited

Manage improvement projects in QC area.

Manage QC Framework entries and schedule Target/Random audits are performed on time

Seek and recommend ways to reduce cost

Organise FIFO in QC

Productivity



Collaborate with Shift Supervisors to plan workforce for QC area

Completing all necessary records and reports in a timely manner

Prepare purchase orders and monitor invoices

Establish or adjust work assignments to meet daily workflow needs

Using your product flow and labor planning experience you will be accountable for the operation relative to production values and budgeted efficiencies in QC area

Reducing or eliminating identified variances in non-value-added processes

EDUCATION AND TRAINING



At minimum High school diploma or equivalent. A Degree in Quality Management, Operations Management or Business Administration an asset.

EXPERIENCE



At least two (2) to five (5) years' experience in a management/supervisory capacity/union environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS



Proficient in Microsoft Office

Lean/5S experience an asset

Previous supervisory experience in a unionized environment an asset

Shift flexibility is a requirement of this position

Able to function effectively as a team player

Demonstrated excellence in relationship building

Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to effectively interact with ABCRC employees and third-party carriers/drivers

Must have ability to remain flexible in a dynamic work environment

Goal focused with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/projects in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail

Demonstrated knowledge and user experience with Excel, Excel Pivot Tables, E-Mail, and Word Documents

Excellent organizational, analytical, prioritization and problem-solving skills

Communicate with clients, coworkers, and management in a clear, concise, and timely manner.

High commitment and positive attitude in the face of setbacks and obstacles

Sound judgement, initiative, and ability to change prioritizing workloads on demand

Self-starter with creative mind and an ability to put ideas into practice

Strong analytical skills and excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to work with different cultures and to manage cross functional interfaces

Planning & Organizing (Ability to prioritize, plan, assign & control)

Time management (monitoring performance against deadlines and milestones)

Ability to act with discretion and treat confidential information appropriately

WORKING CONDITIONS



Majority of work hours are on plant floor with minority hours handling administration items at a desk, using office equipment. Attendance to meetings is required. Occasional lifting of supplies and materials.

Must be capable to work indoors in varying seasonal temperatures

Must gain a good understanding of Operations requirements with an appreciation of diverse stakeholder interests. Manage multiple priorities and tasks and may experience interruptions. The position requires excellent organizational and time management skills, and precise attention to details.

There is not a significant requirement for travel. This is on an as required and approved basis by the Plant Manager.
