We are seeking a strong, hands-on leader with extensive trucking logistics and operations experience. The successful candidate will oversee daily trucking activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage operators and drivers while maintaining Pivotal's high standards for safety and performance.
This position reports directly to the Director of Operations and will focus on optimizing trucking operations, coordinating field movements, supporting logistics planning, and ensuring all activities align with corporate safety and operational goals. The successful candidate will provide clear direction, mentorship, and training to ensure that every team member is competent, confident, and aligned with the company's operational objectives. In addition, this role will contribute to optimizing trucking operations, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, and fostering a positive, safety-focused culture built on teamwork and accountability.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ability to work in a dynamic environment with the operations and sales teams to ensure timely completion of customer-focused hauling requirements.
Answer all incoming calls and document relevant information exhibiting the ability to prioritize and organize work according to urgency of requirements
Manage daily processes including dispatching, verifying tickets and reports
Coordinate trucking schedules and dispatching to meet operational and customer needs in a timely manner.
Organize and dispatch equipment in a timely manner.
Build and maintain strong internal and external working relationships.
Ensure all drivers have the proper instructions to perform their duties safely.
Ensure that the driver has adequate time to perform their duties safely and within hours of work regulations.
Respond to any issues and follow-up by coordinating with the appropriate departments or field teams.
Work closely with and assist the commercial, operations, and mid office teams with required tasks.
Ensure all approvals and back up information is collected and accurate for customer invoices.
Provide assistance with any driver or customer concerns as required.
Qualifications:
5+ years of supervisory experience in trucking, logistics, or field operations.
Valid Transportation certifications (i.e. First aid, TDG, WHMIS/GHS, etc.)
High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet important deadlines
Ability to work independently
Strong computer and reporting skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook).
Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution abilities.
Strong interpersonal skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
