The Operations Specialist role will report to the Director of RST Operations and will have two main areas of focus. The first area of focus is the oversight of mill chemical operations delivery, which involves managing and ensuring the smooth functioning of the chemical operations at all customer locations. The second area of focus is ensuring the safety and compliance of the RST professional drivers, which involves implementing and monitoring safety protocols and ensuring that the professional drivers adhere to compliance standards.
Mill Operations responsibilities include the following;
Main point of contact for Irving Paper chemical deliveries, assisting with special projects and deliveries to other Pulp and Paper division mills.
Provide exceptional transload service to New Brunswick mills with a particular focus on the most complicated commodities such as SO2; in some cases each year, the role may be required to deliver all commodities to any of the mills.
Provide technical and training support to Emergency Responses Services & Cargo Flow Manager in achieving full cross training between all commodities and locations.
Driver Qualifying responsibilities include;
Work with Operations & HSSE staff to ensure procedures and other operational documentation are up to date including technical lead to sign-off on SOPs created by HSSE Team; including in cab driver training.
Responsible for driver certification through themselves and 3 Operations Specialists and HSSE Coordinators across RST's fleet.
Provide leadership to drivers to help resolve issues with equipment and loads.
Work closely with dispatch to resolve customer issues and to ensure RST maintains high levels of communication with customer.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following;
Support RST's business development, maintenance, safety, and recruitment teams by providing local knowledge and expertise across all regions.
Conduct customer and loading rack site visits, as required, to resolve any problems and to maintain strong customer relations for RST.
Provide leadership to drivers during incidents, breakdowns, product handling issues or customer concerns.
Support Operations and HSSE Teams with incident investigations.
Have availability to be on call to deal with emergency issues with customers or drivers.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Must be team oriented and an independent self-starter.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience TMW would be an asset.
15+ of transportation industry experience, including a minimum of 5 years in chemical transloading experience.
