The Operations Representative contributes to the overall success of the Account Maintenance Financial Team in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Front-line field communications on iTRADE Accounts: Each Operations Administrator is assigned as the primary contact for the Contact Centre at iTRADE. Incumbents receive phone calls, emails, written correspondence on inquiries as banking activities for account types. To ensure a high level of customer service, Incumbents are required to investigate, resolve and respond to inquiries/issues in an informed and timely manner (within established SLA) Incumbents are expected to reply within set timeframes with replies consistent to firm policies and/or legislative rules.
  • Review, process and approve various banking related requests, including but not limited to EFT requests, internal transfers between accounts, foreign exchange transactions. Incumbents must review required documents submitted prior to processing such withdrawals. A high level of transactional competence is required. Failure to ensure accuracy of processing could result in liability to the Bank.
  • Review and process special withdrawals/transfers/transactions: Failure to ensure transactions comply with all applicable rules and forms required could put the Bank in a position of financial liability and reputational risk.
  • Analyze, resolve problem items: For problem issues brought to the incumbent’s attention from the field, the incumbent should analyze problem, propose best solutions and take action on corrections as agreed to by the field. If required raise issues/proposed solutions to their Manager or Manager for further review or actions. Response is expected within set time frames
  • Administration of Registered Products activities for all Business Line (iTRADE, Scotia McLeod, and Scotia Trust)
  • Participate in various projects for iTRADE and Registered Products
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
  • Must be self-starter and independent task oriented, to work with minimum supervisor based on guidance from senior management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and projects
  • Familiarity with various banking products (EFT, PAC, FX, etc)
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills;
  • Business education and/or investment industry experience.
  • CSC would be considered an asset.
