The Organizations



The community of the Felician Sisters in Mississauga is part of an international congregation of Catholic sisters that originated in Poland and is part of "Our Lady of Hope Province" in North America. The main apostolates of the Canadian Felicians are education at all levels (daycare, elementary & secondary education), youth and parish ministry, assisting immigrants and helping the needy. Following the Felician charism, the Canadian sisters continue to bring God's love and compassion to all, especially the marginalized.

Canadian Religious Stewardship (CRS), the Employer, is a not for profit and charitable organization established by Catholic Religious Institutes from across Canada. CRS is assisting the Felician Sisters congregation in Canada with their evolving needs.

The Position



Reporting to the Director of Strategic Implementation (CRS) and working in close daily collaboration with the Felician Sisters' Leadership Team, the Operations Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Holy Name of Mary Convent. The Convent is home to 14 Sisters supported by a small team.

The role ensures a safe, respectful, and supportive environment that promotes the well-being and dignity of the Sisters, and actively brings structure and consistency to the day-to-day operations of the convent. This is a hands-on role involving both staff management and direct support to the Sisters in their daily activities.

Responsibilities



Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Leadership & Operations



Manages a small team of staff in healthcare, housekeeping, and dietary services. Coach and support direct reports; manage performance and foster an engaged, respectful workplace. Recruit, select, and retain qualified staff to ensure consistent, high-quality services. Liaise with Finance to ensure that payroll and related services are managed. Collaborate with the Facilities Manager to arrange for services required by the convent.

Support to the Sisters



Build warm, trusted, compassionate relationships with the Sisters through regular connection and presence. Assist Sisters with both routine and unforeseen needs including: Healthcare appointments and follow-ups Emergencies or hospital visits Companionship and advocacy Transportation Housing transitions or moves Assess emerging health concerns, determine eligibility for services, and coordinate referrals and services as appropriate. Coordinate access to medical equipment, supplies, and supportive resources to meet the Sisters' evolving needs.

Administration & Compliance



Manage vendor relationships and resource utilization for housekeeping, laundry, dietary supplies, food, medical equipment, and other service providers. Manager all Occupational Health & Safety, Emergency Preparedness, and Risk Management programs for the convent. Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of all policies, procedures, and best practices. Support the development of simple, clear processes and routines that help staff and Sisters experience stability and continuity. Maintain accurate documentation, records, and tracking systems. Build and maintain positive collaborative relationships with external healthcare, community, and service partners. Perform other related duties as required to support the effective operation of the convent.

Qualifications



Education and Experience



Minimum 3-5 years of relevant management experience in health services, senior care, community care, or operations management. RPN/LPN registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing. Demonstrated experience managing small teams with strong relationship-building and administrative skills.

Knowledge & Skills



Demonstrates empathy, patience, warmth, and the ability to build trust with elderly Sisters and staff. Skilled at coaching, developing staff, resolving conflict, promoting accountability, and fostering a positive team environment. Strong ability to assess situations, make sound decisions, and respond effectively during urgent or unexpected events. Clear, respectful, and compassionate communicator with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Highly organized, attentive to detail, and adept at managing multiple priorities and improving processes. Knowledge of Ontario's healthcare and community support systems, with the ability to advocate effectively for seniors. Respects Catholic values and the religious life of the Sisters; demonstrates integrity, discretion, and confidentiality at all times. Comfortable responding to changing needs and occasional after-hours situations. Competence with email, document preparation, spreadsheets, and basic office systems.

Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle Physically capable of fulfilling job duties Vulnerable Sector Police Check Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional after-hours or in the event of an emergency.
