Job Summary

Astro Hill is looking for a full-time Operations Manager based in Iqaluit, NU.

Reporting directly to the Director of Property Management, this is a hands-on role responsible for leading building operations, maintenance, and facilities teams across Astro Hill's residential and commercial properties. The role oversees a team of approximately 16 employees, ensuring efficient day-to-day performance, safety, and quality service delivery.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Overseeing daily building operations, maintenance, and repair activities across multiple properties Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of trades and maintenance staff to ensure consistent performance Conducting regular property and mechanical system inspections to identify issues and implement proactive solutions Managing boiler, glycol heating, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal operation Coordinating and prioritizing maintenance schedules, service requests, and preventative maintenance programs Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards Supporting capital projects and renovations by coordinating contractors and suppliers Monitoring budgets, inventory, and resource allocation to maintain operational efficiency Liaising with tenants and other departments to resolve maintenance and operational concerns promptly Leading by example to foster a safe, efficient, and accountable work culture Participating in on-call rotation and responding to after-hours emergencies as required

About You

To qualify, you will need a Class 3 Power Engineering Certificate or a Journeyperson HVAC Certificate. A minimum of 6 years of experience in property, building, or facilities operations is essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

Strong technical knowledge of boiler plants, plumbing, or glycol-heated systems Proven ability to manage maintenance operations and coordinate renovations or capital projects Experience monitoring and managing departmental budgets, work orders, and preventative maintenance schedules Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems in residential or commercial settings
