Are you the leader we are looking for ?

Under the direction of the Location General Manager (LGM), the Operations Manager (OM) oversees daily operations in a brand new 700,000 square foot distribution center, which involves product flow through the building. The incumbent will be leading a team of supervisors, analyzes the forecasted production volume and reevaluates resources throughout the day as workflow conditions change to meet store demand. The OM works to achieve or exceed key performance indicator targets despite these fluctuating demands, resolves issues and is responsible for communicating business objectives and daily workload plans.

*Location: Milton Distribution Center (Annex DC)

*Shift: Day shift, however there will be needs to visit shifts as overall responsibility spans all days and shifts.

Your role:

  • Determine the workload (production volume) and monitor inventory movements in the facility frequently throughout the day.
  • Using the Planning Matrix to evaluate staffing needs to meet Daily, Weekly and Monthly volumes swings
  • Communicate effectively with the management team regarding business objectives, safety issues, current issues, upcoming events and demand for the day
  • Build a culture of safety in the work environment. Identify any safety issues on the floor and notify the appropriate party for resolution.
  • Ensure the Supervisors live by our 5 core behaviors and follow their expectations manual
  • Using Engineered Labour Standards and Voice Pick information to achieve all picking KPIs
  • Interview and work with HRBP in the hiring of personnel (seasonal and full-time team members)
  • Mentor, monitor and develop supervisors\' performance. Set their team up for success; achieve or exceed key performance indicators, safety, performance and budget targets. Participate and action succession planning.
  • Report to upper management and Corporate key performance and financial figures. Follow and develop labour budgets for all areas under your control.
  • Identify and assist in implementing process improvements or new processes launched from Supply Chain (customer focused distribution).
  • Expedite, receiving, picking and shipping of priority product.
  • Ensure cross training is completed & updated.
  • Daily inspection of physical condition of distribution center and equipment and directing needed maintenance and/or repair.
  • Promoting and developing flexible labour environment with the Distribution Center.
  • Any other duties as assigned by LGM
The qualifications we are looking for:
  • Bachelor\'s degree (administration, logistics, supply chain, transportation or a related field)
  • Minimum 5-7 years progressive management experience within a large volume, distribution center environment
  • Ability to develop and lead a high performing team (experience in leading supervisors - mandatory)
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with others
  • Strong communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Voice Pick Technology and ELS experience would be an asset
  • Able to effectively lead projects from inspection to implementation
  • Can make solid decisions quickly based on limited information and changing conditions
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex problems; creative problem-solving
  • Strong computer skills; experience with software applications such as Microsoft Office and WMS Software
  • Effectively prioritizes work and possesses time management skills
