Job Description

The Cranbrook Food Bank Society's mission is to steward the collection and free distribution of donated, rescued and purchased food, and give it to those in need. We share resources and work collaboratively with partners across the hunger relief network.

As the Operations Manager, you have a passion for being part of an organization that supports those in need in the community. You have a natural ability to manage operational processes as well as lead and organize volunteers in a fast-paced changing environment.

Key Responsibilities



Provides general

supervision

of all aspects of the operations including leading team of dedicated volunteers in the warehouse, food safety and preparation, distribution, and additional programming as needed. Supports volunteer management (orientation, training, scheduling) as required. Ensures all safe food guidelines are followed including storage, handling, and distribution while maintaining quality control processes. Purchases food and other products from local and provincial suppliers to maintain inventory, while keeping within budgetary constraints. Maintains strong relationships with local businesses, local grocery stores, provincial suppliers, Food Banks BC, Food Banks Canada, and other non-profit agencies. Responsible for all facility, property, and fleet vehicle maintenance in a timely and cost-effective manner. Responsible for all aspects of the warehouse and inventory management. Supports the Food Bank Health and Safety Program to ensure the wellbeing of all workers, clients, and visitors. Supports development of additional programs outside of core operations consistent with the Food Bank's Mission, Vision and Values. Supports development of Food Bank policy, procedure and processes, incorporating community and client feedback as required. Working closely with the Executive Director, identify and implement strategies for fundraising and community events. Represents the Food Bank at external meetings (as required), occasional media interviews and in any correspondence. Performs other duties as directed by the Executive Director or the Board of Directors.

Qualifications



Technical diploma preferred or equivalent combination of experience and education. Food industry, Social Services, non-profit and/or management background an asset. Prefer 1-3 years managerial or supervisory experience. Demonstrated strong organizational, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written Strong computer literacy including video conferencing and social media platforms. Ability to quickly learn these skills and other software as required. Physical environment: Office and warehouse. Active walking. Some lifting will be required and able to lift to 50lbs. Occasional travel to local meetings. Ability to work flexible hours. FoodSafe certification would be an asset.. First Aid certification would be an asset. Forklift certification would be an asset. Valid driver's license subject to a drivers abstract Subject to a Criminal Record Check
