hands-on Operations Manager / Director of Operations
to take full ownership of
day-to-day execution
so ownership can focus on strategy, growth, and long-term vision.
This is
not
a coordinator role,
not
a project-only role, and
not
a people-pleasing middle-management position.

What You Will Own
You will be accountable for
operational performance across the entire business
, including:
Core Responsibilities
Full oversight of
daily operations
across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and sheet metal divisions
Direct management of supervisors, dispatch, and operational office staff
Labour planning, scheduling, and crew utilization
Execution of
PM contracts
, service work, and capital projects
Margin protection: labour efficiency, scope control, and material discipline
Enforcement of job costing, WIP tracking, and close-out discipline in
Simpro
KPI and operations reporting to ownership
Process enforcement (dispatch, work orders, invoicing timelines, documentation)
Health & safety compliance and field accountability
Handling escalations so ownership is
not
the default problem-solver
This role has
real authority
, not symbolic responsibility.

Not a "run everything by the owner" environment

Required Experience (Non-Negotiable)
You
must
have:
8+ years in
mechanical / construction / multi-trade contracting
Experience managing
20+ field staff
Proven ability to run
daily operations
, not just projects
Strong understanding of
job costing, labour productivity, and margins
Experience with
Simpro, ServiceTitan, Jonas, or similar systems
Comfort enforcing standards, discipline, and accountability
Ability to communicate clearly with technicians, supervisors, and office staff
Strong Preference Given To Candidates With
Commercial / industrial mechanical background
PM contract experience (high-rise, plazas, industrial sites)
Union and non-union workforce experience
Experience scaling operations in a growing company

Compensation & Structure
Salary:
$110,000 - $140,000 (based on experience)
